Marco Rubio's Name Arise towards Top of Trump's VP

As the Republican National Convention approaches,  In 2016, Sen Marco Rubio’s (R-Fla) is rumored to be rising in the race to become former President Donald Trump’s running mate. Early Eight years later, he was in a prime position as Trump’s running mate. Rudio has been a close and loyal supporter of Trump since the former president’s inauguration in 2017, Trump is facing various legal challenges regularly defending him against criticisms from Democrats.  He says he has not directly heard from Trump about the possibility, Trump’s Vice President Rubio has reportedly been near the top.

The full name of Marco Rubio is Marco Antonio Rubio, he was born on 28, 1971, and he is an American politician and lawyer serving as the senior United States senator from Florida, a seat he has held since 2011. He served as speaker of the Florido House Od Representatives from 2006 to 2008 by becoming a member of the Republican Party. In 2016 Rubio sought the Republican nomination for the president of the United States but won presidential primaries in Minnesota, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

Macro Rubio’s Path to Congress

Born to Cuban immigrants in Florida, After he graduated from law school, Rubio entered public service through local government. Rubio became the first Cuban-American to act as the speaker of the House of State when he served in Florida’s legislature. He clashed with the centrist Republicans in Florida’s senate and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist during his time in office. He was also known behind the scenes as someone who would work across the aisle and supported a proposal for the state government to apologize for slavery while also backing initiatives focused on helping Black youth.

In 2011, he was elected to the U.S. Senate, In 2016 Robio attempted a run for the presidency, suspending his campaign as Trump moved to gain the party’s nomination. In the Senate, Rubio worked across the aisle on some issues, including immigration reform as part of the bipartisan Gang Eight. The group proposed a comprehensive immigration reform plan that would have included a pathway to citizenship for those people, who are currently in the U.S. and had crossed into the currently illegally. The plan was never taken by the House.

Their background of Rubio,  experience as a legislator, and skills as a political candidate would make him a strong candidate to widen the ticket’s appeal.

Rubio’s Positions

Rubio is considered one of the most conservative senators in Congress, despite his position on immigration reform having diverged from the party’s consensus at one point. Since the year of that proposal, he has pushed towards a more hard-line view on immigration, including his response to the current border crisis. 

He opposed the Affordable Care Act, rejected the scientific consensus on climate change, and objected to efforts to reduce harsh sentences for drug-related crimes. Rubio abortion opponent, supports a full ban on the procedure with the only exception being if the mother’s life is at risk.

Rubio and Trump’s Relationship

In the 2016 GOP nomination, Rubio and Trump butted heads. Rubio referred to Trump as a “con man,”  Trump in return christened Rubio “Little Macro” and attacked his appearance, including mocking him for having large ears and accusing him of sweating too much. Rubio became a staunch supporter of the former president after Trump was elected. 

Rubio For bringing the ticket

At 53,  Rubio is relatively youthful compared to both the candidates, whose ages have been a concern with voters. His background as Cuban-American also helped woo Latino voters, in an election he played an increasingly important role. In recent years, Rubio has shifted to the right, his history of working across the aisle and his significant foreign policy experience could appeal to centrist voters, In the general election Trump will need to win.

One challenge is Rubio’s Florida residency because the 12th Amendment prevents both the president and vice president from being from the same state. He has suggested a willingness to take advantage of a loophole and change his official residency to appear on the ticket.
