Hollins, Chris was born on 20 March 1971, in London’s Bromley. He is the son of John Hollins and Judith Hollins. His father was a former English footballer and manager who played for Chelsea, Queens Park Rangers and Arsenal. His mother was a retired nurse. He has a half-sister named Elizabeth Hollins from his father’s previous relationship. He attended The Harefield Academy, where he played cricket and football. He then went to University of Durham, where he studied modern languages and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993. He also played first-class cricket for Oxford University Cricket Club.
